In a sense, I'm actually thinking that Utada and Hirai destroyed it.
No one was asking for genuine artists like them, and it led to the consumers and the media all acting like specialists and experts by praising these 2.
And because of them, the "heta-uma" (bad-but-good) genre died.

15年前だったらすっごいCD売れてただろうなっていう曲もたくさんあるのに、CD売れなくてミュージシャンかわいそう

There are a lot of songs now that would have probably sold a ton 15 years ago, and I feel sorry for the musicians who can't increase the sales of their CDs this day.

つかメロディーラインの綺麗さは流石プロって感じだけどな。

Komuro's songs are really disgusting.
I can still bear to listen to AKB's songs.
But his beautiful melody lines really makes you realize that he's truly a pro.
But there are only 1 or 2 Komuro songs that leave lasting impressions.

特典付きのCDはオリコンから除外するべき

Akimoto and AKB are being criticized, but there are numerous ways of selling with added extras. The ones who should be criticized are the media who's claiming that "AKB is the most popular in Japan", even with those sales that are on steroids.
Oricon should remove these CDs with extras from their tally.

60、70年代の邦楽はそんなに酷いものじゃなかった。

編曲、演奏もしっかりしてたし。

But the music back in the '60s and the '70s wasn't that bad.
The arrangements and the instrumentalizations were all done properly.

People started saying that Japanese music was finished from the emergence of Being-kei and peak of the Komuro-kei in the '90s.
And it seems that people now are starting to reminisce about the music of these times.
That's why people who say that Japanese music is dead these days are stupid.
